APPLYING FOR A HABITAT HOUSE

To apply for the property in Burlington County, NJ, please download an application, fill it out in its entirety and mail it back to us. You may also drop it off at our office at 1702 Taylor's Lane in Cinnaminson, NJ 08077. If you would like more information, please call Ashley Griffiths, AmeriCorps National Family Services Coordinator, at (856) 303-8080, ext. 216.

THE SELECTION PROCESS

The Family Services Department works with the Family Services Committee to review applications for completeness and correctness. We then run both a background and credit check. Neither of these, if less than satisfactory, will necessarily disqualify an applicant. We review every application on a case by case basis. If we feel the applicant(s) meet(s) the criteria and is/are prepared for homeownership, we will present the application to the Board of Directors, who will ultimately deny or approve the application. A denial or acceptance letter is then sent to the applicant(s) communicating the decision and reason for such decision. The application and selection process may take up to six months.

HOW IT WORKS

The mission of HFHBCNJ is to eliminate substandard and overcrowded housing through our Affordable Homeownership Program. To achieve this mission, families accepted into the program and HFHBCNJ work together in partnership. Each accepted “partner family” must complete 250 or 400 “sweat equity” hours. These hours are completed by building homes, working in our ReStore and attending homeownership classes.

Equal Housing Opportunity

A FAIR HOUSING PROVIDER

We are pledged to the U.S. policy for the achievement of equal housing opportunity. We support an affirmative advertising and marketing program in which there are no barriers to obtaining housing because of race, color, age, religion, sex, handicap, marital or familial status, income source, national origin, or exercising the right to federal credit protection.
