WINTER 2016-17: Sharon Gray
For the Winter 2016-17 quarter we honor Sharon Gray as Volunteer of the Quarter! Sharon started volunteering at the ReStore in January 2016 after seeing a post on social media for an immediate need. She was looking for a way to keep physically active and use her creativity after a change in her employment situation, and thought the ReStore might be a good fit. This alone shows Sharon’s constructive, positive energy. She made the most of a hard situation, using it as an opportunity to give back to her community. Some of Sharon’s favorite parts of working in the ReStore include the variety of projects and flexible schedule, using her background in design to create displays from donations, and knowing that ReStore exists to help others with housing needs. Sharon has been a pleasure to get to know since I first started at Habitat. She brings a special energy to the store and everything she helps with. Sharon also demonstrated her helpful energy by immediately volunteering to help at our golf outing, and being incredibly flexible by helping with a variety of tasks, making a big event less stressful.
FALL 2016: Rick Marino
Rick Marino did not want any pictures or recognition for his dedication to Habitat, but we had to shout him out anyway! Rick has been volunteering on the construction site for the past three years and with his background and knowledge in construction, we consider him part of our key volunteers we refer to as “the regulars”. Rick is a leader and a guy that we can consistently count on to come help us out to help lead volunteers.
